What is a "sustainability consultant" and why do I need one?

SUSTAINABLE —Merriam-Webster.com

a : of, relating to, or being a method of harvesting or using a resource so that the resource is not depleted or permanently damaged <sustainable techniques> <sustainable agriculture>
b : of or relating to a lifestyle involving the use of sustainable methods <sustainable society>

United Nations Brundtland Commission Report 1987:
Sustainability means meeting the vital needs “of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

Butch Tindell “Sustain Life Journal” Volume 1, Issue 3     www.sustainlife.org
“Obviously, in order for something to “sustain” to continue on, it must be able to endure. It must have enduring value, enduring worth, and we must honor and respect that value and worth if it is going to be sustainable.”

CONSULTANT —Merriam-Webster.com

someone who gives professional advice or services : expert

What is our definition and what is our goal?

A sustainability consultant is someone who designs a plan to make a project, business or home as sustainable as the client requests. The consultant is someone who has done the required research and obtained the necessary credentials to accomplish this task so the client is not required to rediscover this knowledge for the project himself. The consultant also can act as an agent for the client and looks out for the best intrest of the client. It is his job to try to look ahead and see the best pathway to accomplish the goals set forth by the client.

From simple advice to writing specifications, from writing a scope of work to managing the project from start to finish—these are his tasks. Our goal is to make your pathway to sustainability as easy for you as possible. We will help you discover the best way to attain your goals within your budget.
